Australia has fascinated us with its unique natural beauty and diverse species as a remote yet developed country. Australia is one of the few countries that can provide an unforgettable vacation experience regardless of your travel preferences, budget, or age.

Is it, however, worthwhile to travel such a long distance to see one of the world’s most distant countries? Yes!

Here are five reasons why Australia should be at the top of your bucket list, from its cultural riches to its magnificent beaches and off-the-beaten-path adventures in the outback.

1. It’s the Ideal Roadtrip Destination

Australia, the world’s sixth-largest country and a continent in its own right, spans 2.97 million square miles for you to explore at your leisure.
There’s enough of the outback and untamed nature to camp in and enjoy in peace, as well as many cities and small towns to visit.

This is the spot to go if you want to get off the beaten road! You might spend months circling the country and visiting each state, or you could focus on the eastern half of the country for a couple of weeks. You could easily spend weeks on Tasmania’s island!

But what if you don’t have much time to travel? Within Melbourne and Sydney, you may spend three or four days road traveling down the coast. This is one of my all-time favorite road trips. It’s stunning!

You can also travel down the famous Great Ocean Road if you just have one or two days. This is not a show to be missed.

2. Australia’s Wonderful Weather

Australia offers golden-sunshine weather for the majority of the year. Despite the fact that the south might turn chilly in the winter (May-June), the north has summer-like weather all year.

Tourists and residents alike will be traveling from south to north during this time of year. Any day of the year, you can enjoy activities such as camping, hiking, surfing, and sunbathing on the beach.

3. The Beaches

Australians are very proud of their beaches, and rightly so! Australia offers some of the world’s best beaches! With a coastline that runs for over 23,000 kilometers, you’re sure to locate the ideal beach.

In reality, Australia has 11,011 beaches, including big wave surfer hotspots, pure white sand beaches, and family-friendly beaches, to name a few.

Shelly Beach in Sydney, Whitehaven Beach in the Great Barrier Reef, Cable Beach in Broome, Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas, and the legendary Hyams Beach – known for having the whitest sand in the world – are among the most gorgeous Australian beaches.

4. The Largest Barrier Reef in the World

One of the world’s most amazing natural wonders is the Great Barrier Reef. It has the world’s largest coral reef system and is the only living organism visible from space.
To give you an indication of its size, it is larger than the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Switzerland altogether!

This is a world-class snorkeling and diving experience that you won’t find anyplace else.

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed treasure, can be visited on a snorkeling or diving day excursion from Cairns, or as part of a liveaboard diving adventure.

5. The Incredible Cities

Despite having a land area larger than Europe, Australia has a very low population density. In fact, the majority of Australians (approximately 85 percent) live in coastal cities.
Sydney, Australia’s most compelling and throbbing cosmopolitan ambiance, is often misidentified as the country’s capital. Sydney is a must-see location for every vacation because of its beach lifestyle, vibrant nightlife, and dynamic culture.
Canberra, Australia’s capital city, is a fascinating trip for architecture and museum enthusiasts.

Melbourne, in the south, is a fantastic contrast to Sydney, with its attractive European flair, gastronomic scene, and coffee culture, while still remaining a lively metropolis.

Cairns’ exceptional location, sandwiched between the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest, makes it an ideal destination for adventurers.
